New Youth Program for NEOSS

Updated: Feb 3, 2023

The Melfort Youth Evolution (under the direction of NEOSS) is excited to announce some fantastic news for youthintroducing our newest youth program “MYE Space”! We here at NEOSS are continuing to support and advocate for, and work collaboratively with youth, while creating a safe, inclusive, nonjudgmental physical and/or virtual space where all youth can feel safe, accepted, and "normal", and where they can learn how to live lives free from violence. The reality is that youth in our community are looking for support and acceptance for who they are. By having a regular time and location they can meet, whether it’s in person or virtually, will provide the security needed to be exactly what and who they want to be. These weekly sessions/workshops will provide participants with foundational skills and tools to build and maintain healthy and safe relationships, covering topics such as healthy relationships, consent, gender, and dating violence.

Our focus will be on serving youth in our community and beyond by helping to assist them in choosing to live their best healthy lifestyle, make responsible decisions, helping them to learn to build healthy relationships, and by providing them a safe space to connect with each other. Programming will provide meaningful activities and workshops that lead to a better self.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about their health and wellbeing – both physically and mentally, self-care, relationship building, the importance of staying connected during this time of disconnect, while helping them to accept that life is just different right now. The “MYE Space” program is a FREE universal program that is available to youth from the ages of 10-19 in Melfort (and immediate area). To register, or for more information, please feel free to contact our main office at 306-752-9464, or email Kathryn Carswell at kcarswell@neoss.ca . We would also like to thank the Community Initiatives Fund for awarding us with a $25,000 grant in order to offer this very valuable programming in our communities. The Community Initiatives Fund contributes to the quality of life of Saskatchewan’s residents by providing grants for projects supporting healthy growth and development of children and youth, individual and community well-being, and non-profit and community leadership.
