NEOSS Speaks Out on Upcoming Domestic Violence Trial

Melfort, SK June 3, 2026 – North East Outreach and Support Services issues the following statement from our Board of Directors.

“Danielle Dobersheck was an employee of North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS), a beloved co-worker, and a dear friend. As court proceedings begin in this homicide trial, we acknowledge the weight this moment carries for her family, loved ones, colleagues, and our broader community. We extend our sincere compassion and support to all those affected by this tragic loss.

Domestic violence, though often unspoken, remains present in our communities. It is a reality we must not ignore. Each of us has a role to play in keeping one another safe—if you see something, say something.

We encourage everyone to move through this time with care and respect, keeping focus on those most impacted and on Danielle’s life and memory. If you are finding this time difficult, we encourage you to connect with local support services or speak with a trusted friend or professional

—help and support are available.

Together, we remain committed to fostering a community where safety, dignity, and

accountability are upheld for all” said the NEOSS Board of Directors

Key Findings from a Saskatchewan Provincial 2025 Domestic Violence Death Review Report1 stated Victims and Perpetrators: The majority of victims were female (83%), and most perpetrators were male (82%). Most victims were killed by current intimate partners, with a significant number of deaths occurring in rural areas.

Other findings from the report were that majority of domestic homicides take place in March and April.

1 Domestic Violence Death Review Report, released January 2025 – Province of Saskatchewan

“Danielle Dobersheck died on March 10, 2024 in Melfort, Saskatchewan. She is much more than a statistic, she was a mother, daughter, sister, friend, co-worker and her life mattered,” said Tracey Zwozdesky, Outreach Manager for NEOSS.

“We remember Danielle for not the violent death that took place, but for her laughter, love and kindness as a co-worker. I still remember when we first heard of this horrible tragedy. Staff were overcome with shock, and we were hit very hard by this tragic murder. The violence must stop,” said Joan Bear, Executive Director for NEOSS.

As the murder trial begins June 8, NEOSS will participate in a “Remembering Danielle” march starting at the Melfort Court of Kings Bench at 10:30 am on June 8 to support Danielle’s family.
