Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes has long been a major fundraiser for NEOSS and an event that has always remained near and dear to our hearts. This walk is the International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence, and is a dramatic way to raise awareness in our communities about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to men's sexualized violence.
2020 was to be our 8th Annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes event, but due to COVID-19 that walk did not happen. The cancellation was hard on us financially, but also emotionally. This year we would have gathered in Tisdale with about 120 participants and many community volunteers to "Walk-A-Mile in her shoes" and bring in upwards of $15,000 for North East Outreach and Support Services.
We wanted to come up with a way to bring awareness to this cause, to have some fun with the Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes theme, and also raise some of the funds that would not be coming in from the event this year. That is where the idea to create a calendar featuring the signature red high heel shoes was born. We knew this would be something that we could get many groups involved with while having fun. The 12 months of the calendar were purchased by local businesses in exchange for being featured for a month, and ads spaces were also sold. We could not have done this without the creative and talented photographers that jumped on board to help by taking the photos; Sarah Meagan Photography, Alysia Dagg Photography, Photography by Rya, Brittany-June Photography, and Stacey Simpson Photography.
The calendars are officially being released for sale on October27, 2020 at various locations throughout North East Saskatchewan, and of course at our main office. With your $25 calendar purchase you are automatically entered into our December 2021 Cash Calendar Draw with cash prizes worth $2,000!
